Analysis of Questionnaire
I made and circulated a questionnaire and found that over 50% of those surveyed didn’t read the college magazine. The majority of those surveyed didn’t read the college magazine because the contents of it did not appeal to them. To make my magazine appeal to my target audience I would include the things they are interested in. To find out what would attract them, in my survey I asked what they would like to see. I discovered that the items they would like to see included sports, local events, music and local jobs.
I also discovered that 70 % of those surveyed would like a magazine either fortnightly or monthly rather than every term or half term. Therefore I have decided to make my college magazine a monthly one to suit my target audience.
From looking at my questionnaire I can see where I would like my magazine circulated. Most surveyed said that the thing they enjoy about college the most is their breaks. Therefore, I would want to put copies of my magazine in the Library and canteens as this is where the majority of students spend their free time and this would help attract a my target audience and possibly a wider audience.
I also found that my target audience would be prepared to pay a small amount for a copy of the college magazine, providing it contained items they wanted to read. Over 50% of students said that they would be willing to pay, on average, 50p for the magazine. I would therefore charge between twenty-five and fifty pence for my magazine as this is what my audience are willing to pay. However, I would not charge any more than this as I could lose some of my audience as they do not wish to pay any more for my product.
100 % of those surveyed said that they would prefer an informal style to the magazine. I will make my magazine with an informal style to attract my target audience. I also found that many of those surveyed wouldn’t subscribe. However, I would try to encourage them to subscribe by offering a half price deal for the year. This could them attract a wider audience.
