Evaluation of Preliminary task-College magazine
I made my College magazine to suit my target audience. One of the ways I did this was by using a picture of a student as the main image on the front cover of my magazine. I used a picture of a student as he is the same age as my target audience. Also, my target audience will be able to relate to him as they are of a similar age.
Another way I made my magazine appeal to its target audience is by using bright colours. I used these because they are modern and can be associated with student life. For example a vibrant colour like pink or orange can be associated with disco’s/parties which the majority of students attend.
In my magazine I included the topics that I thought would appeal to students the most. After circulating a questionnaire, I could see that the majority of students wanted similar items in their college magazine. Therefore, included some of these things in my magazine because I knew it would attract my target audience.
Another thing I learnt from my questionnaire was that most students were willing to pay fifty pence for a copy of the college magazine. From this I decided to put a price of fifty pence on my magazine as I knew that students would be willing to pay this.
Another thing I added on my magazine was that students could subscribe. From the questionnaire, the majority of students said they wouldn’t want to subscribe to the college magazine. However, I included it on my magazine as it allowed those students who did subscribe to sae money over the whole year. I thought that if I included it with a money saving students might subscribe.
